The Apostle Paul contrasts his life and that of those in Corinth that would seek to distort the Gospel.  Paul boasts not of his greatness and success, but of his suffering for the cause of Christ.  For it is humility that is a result of abiding in Christ. Pride or boasting are contrary to the message of Christ.
