Our New Identity

This week Peter wants us to understand the power of Christ’s kingdom and the important identity he gives to those that belong to his kingdom. God reminds we can live out our new identity we find in him no matter the circumstance we face.

1 Peter 2:13, 3:1-8

Emphasizes the importance of submission in various aspects of life, including to governmental authorities, in the workplace, and within the family. It highlights that submission and service are acts of worship that reflect Christ’s example. Believers are called to submit not out of fear or rebellion but out of faith and trust in God’s sovereignty, demonstrating Christ’s love and sacrifice in their interactions with others. This submission leads to unity and showcases the transformative power of the gospel.

1 Peter 2:4-12

Emphasizes believers as living stones, built into a spiritual house with Christ as the cornerstone. It highlights the importance of continually coming to Jesus, setting aside sin, and growing through God’s Word. Believers are called to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices and proclaiming God’s excellencies. The passage urges Christians to maintain excellent behavior among non-believers, reflecting the transformative power of their faith and bringing glory to God through their actions.
